KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A routine traffic stop ended in a police chase and a kidnapping suspect in custody Friday afternoon.

Knoxville Police Department officials say an officer was on patrol on Sevier Avenue when he noticed 31-year-old Jason Branner, who he knew to have outstanding warrants.

The officer says that when he attempted to pull Branner over, he took off in a vehicle.

Police caught up with him about ten minutes later at a gas station on Sevierville Pike and John Sevier Highway.

Branner, who has an outstanding warrant for aggravated kidnapping, was taken into custody. A woman inside the vehicle was released at the scene.

Branner is now facing felony fleeing charges in addition to his charges.
