JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington,W.Va., is reporting in an article that East Tennessee State University men’s basketball head coach, Murry Bartow, could be the next head basketball coach for Marshall University.

In past years, Bartow has been involved in numerous coaching rumors, which included last year when his name was mentioned as a possibility at Troy University.

WJHL Sports Director Kenny Hawkins contacted Coach Bartow, who said he has had no interaction with Marshall to this point and that he has no plans of leaving ETSU.

Bartow and many of the nation's other basketball coaches are in Dallas for the NCAA Final Four.

In 17 years as a Division I head coach, Bartow is 311-234 with four NCAA Tournament appearances.

Brandon Smith from the WOWK sports department in Huntington said he knows at least five coaches have interviewed for the Thundering Herd job, and that none of those five were the ETSU coach.

He added that Marshall AD Mike Hamrick said he won't be updating the media on this search until he names the new coach.

News Channel 11 will update this story as new details become available.
