Knoxville man trapped in old school bus after wreck on Gov. John Sevier Hwy

KNOXVILLE, TENN (WATE) - A small school bus converted into a work truck crashed into the rear of a freight truck on Tuesday morning.

At 9:07 a.m., the Knoxville Police Department responded to the crash on John Sevier Highway just south of the intersection of Asheville Highway. According to the KDP, an old small school bus that had been converted into a work truck slammed into the rear of a freight truck that had come to a stop for a traffic light.

The driver of the old bus, Jeffrey Donehew, 54, of Knoxville was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by the Knoxville Fire Department. Donehew was transported to UT Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending.

The driver of the freight truck, Ernest Nicely, Jr., 48, was not injured.
