Corryton Man suffers accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound


CORRYTON, TENN (WATE) - The Knox County Sheriff reports that a Corryton man accidentally shot himself in the leg Thursday morning.

According to the KCSO investigation, Howard Stuffle Jr., 48, of 4507 Shipe Road was sitting in a chair in his living room, he reached for a cup of coffee on the kitchen counter and knocked over a .22 caliber short rifle that had been leaning against the wall. As he picked up the gun, Stuffle placed one hand on the barrel and one hand on the stock area and the gun discharged, striking Stuffle in the leg.

He was transported by Rural Metro to UT Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
