Campbell County commissioner arrested Wednesday for driving under the influence


JACKSBORO, TENN (WATE) - A Campbell County Commissioner was arrested Wednesday night for driving under the influence.

The Jacksboro Police Department responded to an accident on Butter And Egg Road at the intersection of Lays Lane. The responding officer found James Wendell Bailey of 130 W. Hill Street, Lafollette, TN, sitting inside his automobile with a spilled beer can lying in the driver side floor board along with 23 empty beer cans in the back floor board of the truck.

Bailey reportedly told the officer that he had been drinking since 5 p.m. Bailey failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a blood and breath alcohol test. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and transported to the Campbell County Jail for booking.
