KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A cable sports network office right on the UT campus, it's coming with the advent of the SEC Network. UT Coach Butch Jones saying Thursday it will help in recruiting, now we're learning more about what the network is bringing to UT.

Quiet and empty, the ground floor of the athletic center is being transformed into a state of the art television studio.

"We can program that to look like the backdrop we have at the press conference," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Chris Fuller.

But what's exciting is that Knoxville is going national with the new SEC Network channel.

"From this space we'll be able to produce all of our live coverage of events, also video board, coaches shows," added Fuller.

Starting just in time for football season, the network launches in August and this studio is a $10 million project designed so that if you're at the field on game day you won't miss any live TV action.

"The public will be able to see in through the windows as the broadcast is live and so it provides a show if you will in it of itself," said Lanny Cope with Cope Architecture.

On Thursday at a Chamber of Commerce event, coach Butch Jones said having both a new space and broadcast will make a dramatic impact as he builds the program brick-by-brick.

"You only have 4 to 6 seconds to make a first impression so any individual recruit, prospective student athlete, mom and dad when they walk into our building they receive their name, your name, and welcome," added Coach Jones.

But having this hub is a win for all sports as they recruit future vols.

"They're going to be able to see content that's very sports specific to them," added Fuller.

The SEC Network will air 45 football games, more than 100 men's basketball games, and 60 women's basketball games.

Last week we learned that the SEC Network will be carrying the vols season opener against Utah State. That game has been moved to Sunday August 31st, the network officially launches two weeks before on August 14th.

SEC Network has signed agreements with Dish Network and AT & T U-Verse to carry its programming, Comcast is evaluating the network.
