KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Reports of a shooting ended in a high-speed chase through East Knoxville Sunday afternoon.
Knoxville Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Jefferson Ave near Polk after reports that a black Nissan Pathfinder and a red Chevy Suburban were exchanging gunfire near the intersection.

KPD officers located a black Pathfinder matching one of the suspect vehicles on Castle St. The Pathfinder fled when officers initiated their emergency equipment. The path of the pursuit led through Holston Hills neighborhood, by the Holston Hills Country Club, and ended when the suspects drove down the dead end of Holston View lane and into the Holston River. Both suspects were then apprehended.

The suspect driving the vehicle has been identified as Travis Mack, 22, of Knoxville. Mack has been charged with evading arrest, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, and issued a citation for failure to provide financial responsibility. Mack is being held on a $10,000 bond.

The passenger has been identified as Jeremy Edwards, 18, of Knoxville. Edwards has been charged with drug free school zone violation, public intoxication, simple possession, resisting stop – halt and frisk, and no seatbelt. Edwards is being held on a $19,000 bond.

Additional charges could be placed as the investigation continues.
