Jessie E. Cummings, 24, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual conduct with an inmate and two counts of officer misconduct.

Three former inmates claimed in a lawsuit that Cummings raped them during their stays at the jail. The suit also named Sheriff Scott Layel, Chief Deputy Charles Biddle and supervisors Bobby Owens and Brad Johnson as higher-ups who allowed the rapes to happen.

The suit was later settled for an undisclosed amount.

Cummings and four other jail workers were arrested in January. Some of the others' charges were related to the November escape of three inmates from the jail. Three of the four other suspects were also scheduled for court appearances Monday, but their cases were reset.

Sentencing for Cummings is scheduled on June 16.
