KNOXVILLE (WATE) - About 200 schools across America that operate their own radio station celebrated the third annual High School Radio Day Wednesday.

That's not a big number when you think about the number of high schools in the United States, but there's one located in Knoxville.

WKCS 91.1 Falcon Radio has been on the air since 1952. Students do just about everything, from producing to working as disc jockeys.

Shavote Lipscomb is a senior now, and he says early on, he learned the importance of confidence and preparation.  

"I learned that the hard way, going to games and not knowing what to say. Statistics being wrong. So. you just have to prepare for it and know what you're talking about," he said.

He plans to study communications in college, and 6 News hears several students from Fulton have gone on to work professionally in the radio business.
