KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Tennessee's basketball program has lost at least two players from the Vols 2014 freshman class-- and may be on the verge of losing another.
Insidetennessee.com has told 6 Sports that point guard Larry Austin and shooting guard Jordan Cornish have been granted their request to be released.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported on Wednesday night that center C.J. Turman will also ask for his release. It's not certain if it will be granted.
A fourth player, power forward Phil Cofer, is the lone remaining player from a class signed by former head coach Cuonzo Martin in November.
The defections of Austni and Cornish come a day after the Vols hired Donnie Tyndall as their new head coach. Tyndall said in his introductory press conference on Tuesday that he wanted to keep all four players.
Tyndall can still sign players for the 2014 class. He has until May 21 to do so.
