KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Country music star Sara Evans took time off of her world tour Thursday to stop in Knoxville for an up close and personal performance benefiting the local Red Cross.

The third annual Red, White and Rock event was held Thursday night.  It was hosted by Scripps Networks Interactive at their studios in West Knoxville.

It's the premiere fundraiser for the Red Cross of Tennessee Mountain Valley, and this year's intimate concert made the event better than ever.

Sara Evans says the Red Cross is close to her heart. She's been part of the Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet since 2005.

"Being from Alabama, we were hit so hard with the tornadoes in 2011, and I grew up in Missouri and the same year it happened in Missouri, and truly every single time there's been a disaster, the Red Cross is always there," said Evans.

6 News Anchor Lori Tucker co-chaired this year's event.
