KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man was brought to the hospital early Wednesday after being pinned between two cars in Northwest Knoxville.

The accident happened around 1 a.m. on Callahan Drive near Charlie Weaver Way.

The Knoxville Police Department says Britt Guess, 22, and his fiance Elizabeth VanCleave, 21, ran out of gas while driving their 1999 silver Acura westbound on Callahan Drive.

Timothy Long, 47, the driver of a red Toyota Tacoma, then stopped to see if he could help the couple.

Police say a few moments later a PT Cruiser driven by Jennifer Roberts, 33, slammed into the back of the truck, which then threw Guess into his Acura.

Guess was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with serious leg injuries.

No one else was injured in the accident.

Roberts was charged with careless driving, driving on a suspended license and not having proof of insurance.
