KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Theft charges were dismissed Friday against former Sen. Stacey Campfield campaign worker Kali Bales.

A police report originally filed by Campfield Jan. 21 claimed that Bales entered Campfield's home last November while he was away, and took several hundred dollars worth of cash, checks and loose change. Campfield says Bales also took other items including DVD's, CD's and books.

The KPD report stated the three checks were written to Bales and appeared to be signed off on by Campfield between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26.

According to official court documents, Campfield was able to provide police with a written and taped confession from Bales, saying that once he confronted her, she admitted to the crime.

A court clerk told 6 News the judge ordered the theft charges dismissed Friday, but that she had to pay restitution. Campfield said he received a check in court and he is satisfied with the case.

He said it was not his intention to ruin her life; he just wanted back what was owed to him.

Campfield also said forgery charges filed in Sevier County will be dropped soon.
