Operator of Jellico Hospital to end lease agreement

Operator of Jellico Hospital to end lease agreement

JELLICO (WATE) - Jellico's hospital is in need of a new operator.

The company currently running that facility gave notice on Friday that it plans to leave a year from now.
Jellico community hospital is operated by Adventist Health System, which notified the city that it plans to end its lease agreement.

Adventist's Regional CEO said in a release that it's partly to do with changes in the new healthcare law.

Another challenge is that hospitals like Jellico's do not have the necessary ties to nearby facilities to share costs evenly.

Adventist will help Jellico identify options for a new operator and says that ideally the hospital should be run by a company that already runs other hospitals in the area.
