LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Art Sherman has become the Kentucky Derby's oldest winning trainer thanks to California Chrome's sprint to the finish.

Sherman gets his signature moment at age 77, a whole 59 years after he worked out Swaps before the horse's 1955 Derby-winning performance.

Said Sherman: "I'm so thankful that I'm here. ... I'm just the same old Art Sherman, you know - except, I won the Kentucky Derby."

He doesn't plan to celebrate for long.

Sherman promised that he'd be back on the job early next week at his small southern California stable, helping sons Alan and Steve groom other prospects before looking ahead to California Chrome's next challenge in two weeks at the Preakness.
