Two injured in East Knoxville shooting

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two people were brought to the hospital Sunday night after being shot in East Knoxville.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting near 2115 Brooks Avenue around 8:55 p.m.

When police and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found two people with gunshot wounds.

Gary Tate, 37, was shot in the arm and chest. Julia Rice, 58, had a graze wound to her abdomen.

The victims were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by Rural/Metro, and they are expected to be okay.

Investigators and forensic technicians responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
