KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Some local students get the chance Sunday night to the see the Jersey Boys show at the Tennessee Theater for free, thanks to the Youth Arts Alliance Fund.

The program is available to any Title I school in Knox County, but one organizer said a lot of teachers don't know about it.

Teachers at Austin East took about 25 students to the show.

"I have children who can't afford clothing. Like they can't afford food, clothing, shoes. And so the opportunity to actually see a Broadway performance is absolutely kind of unheard of," said teacher Doug James.

About 750 students have seen events free of charge this year through the Youth Arts Alliance Fund. The program is supported by several East Tennessee businesses.
