Junior-college guard Punter signs with Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee has added 6-foot-4 shooting guard Kevin Punter to its recruiting class.

Punter is from Bronx, New York, and spent the last two years at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri. He plans to enroll at Tennessee this summer and will have two years of eligibility.

In a university release Monday that announced Punter's signing, Tennessee coach Donnie Tyndall said "he's a long, athletic perimeter player who can play multiple positions for us." Tyndall called Punter a "gym rat, which is exciting because guys like that who spend a lot of time in their gym always maximize their potential."

Punter averaged 20.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this past season for State Fair.

Punter joins a recruiting class that also includes 6-8 ½ forward Jabari McGhee.
