CLINTON (WATE) - Anderson County voters decided Tuesday which Republican mayor and sheriff candidates to send to the general election in August.

Current Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank defeated Anderson County Commissioner Zach Bates in the primary race for mayor.

Frank won by a margin of 53 percent to 47 percent. She will face Democrat Jim Hackworth in the general election on August 7.

Frank now says she's preparing for August.

"I want to make Anderson County an even better place to live work and do business. It's all about education, providing services for people in a customer friendly way, treating people with the kindness they deserve as taxpayers and just being a strong fiscal manager. People work hard for every dollar they spend. I want to make sure it's spent well in government and that we keep as much in their hands as we can."

In the race for sheriff, former Scott County sheriff Anthony Lay defeated Randy Myers in the Republican primary.

Lay will face current sheriff, Democrat Paul White, in August.
