Vonore man killed in Blount Co. motorcycle accident Sunday; body found Thursday

TALLASSEE (WATE) - A Vonore man was found dead along Calderwood Highway in Blount County Thursday morning from a motorcycle accident that apparently happened on Sunday.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office says Ray Leon Seaton, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was last seen Sunday on his motorcycle on Calderwood Highway.

The wreck scene was found around 8:30 Thursday morning by a mowing crew.

Deputies say Season was traveling north in the 5300 block of Calderwood Highway when he ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and traveled 30 feet down an embankment.

The motorcycle was found about eight feet from Seaton's body. He was wearing a helmet.

Deputies say speed was a factor in the accident. The motorcycle had been reported stolen last year in Monroe County.

Officials say the accident did not occur on the 11 mile stretch of Calderwood Highway known as "The Dragon".
