Driver arrested after passenger is seriously injured in Knoxville wreck

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A driver is facing charges after crashing a car and severely injuring the passenger inside on Friday afternoon.

The Knoxville Police Department says they responded to a single vehicle crash on Parkdale just south of Rifle Range Road just after 3:30 p.m.

Officials say a passenger in the car had her right arm severed as a result of the crash.

A preliminary investigations suggests that the driver lost control around a curve while driving north on Parkdale and left the roadway striking a utility pole.

The passenger had her arm hanging outside of the window at the time of impact into the pole. The victim was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.

The driver was arrested and charged with driving on revoked license and failure to maintain control of the vehicle. The driver's name has not yet been released.
