Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp told 6 News officers were able to identify the suspect by enhancing photos taken from surveillance video the night the car was stolen. They located the suspect, Kevin Scott Presley, 41, of Maryville, at a local hotel in Alcoa where he was staying.

Officers brought Presley in for questioning, where he then confessed to stealing the car, but informed officers that he was no longer in possession of the vehicle. Through information provided by Presley, Maryville Police notified Knoxville Police of the possibility the stolen vehicle was located in an area around Walter P. Taylor homes.
