TOWNSEND (WATE) - After a devastating fire last year, owners of Dancing Bear Lodge & Restaurant in Townsend have decided to abandon plans to rebuild the main lodge and restaurant, and will now sell the business.

The lodge and restaurant were destroyed in the fire which broke out on November 14, 2013. The business has been operating solely as a cabin rental business since then.

Owners said Tuesday they had intended to rebuild the main lodge and restaurant, but decided it was no longer a viable option.

Management of Dancing Bear's cabin rental business has been turned over to Dogwood Cabins and the property listed for sale.

“After much consideration and due diligence, we have decided not to rebuild the lodge and restaurant,” said Matt Alexander, Managing Partner of Dancing Bear Lodge & Restaurant. “Management of the property has been transitioned to Dogwood Cabins. We appreciate all our past guests patronage, and the local community for their outpouring of support and are grateful to have been a member of the Townsend business community for ten years.”

All reservations that were made through Dancing Bear Lodge & Restaurant will be honored. If guests have questions about a reservation, please contact Dogwood Cabins at 865-448-9054 or visit the website at www.dogwoodcabins.com.
