    A Johnson City man was arrested Saturday after police said he assaulted his father with a hammer.According to police, Robert Collins, 25, attacked the victim, choked him, hit him with a hammer, and then smashed a kitchen window.Collins was charged with one count of aggravated domestic assault and one count of vandalism.He's in the Washington County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.Copyright WJHL 2014. HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - A Hawkins County man is charged with aggravated child abuse, after investigators say he cut his 10-year-old nephew with a knife.

When deputies responded to a call at a residence on Barrett Lane in Church Hill Monday, they were confronted by 40-year-old Donnie Gene Rhoton, who was armed with a knife.

After a brief standoff, officers detained Rhoton. That's when family members told them Rhoton had cut the young boy.

Witnesses say the boy had slept on a couch in the residence during the night, and Rhoton was in the same room.

Around 6 a.m., the boy went to the room where his father was sleeping and told him Rhoton had cut him on the shoulder.

Family members say they heard Rhoton begin talking in the living room and getting "increasingly louder and more agitated and also stating that he was going to kill his family".

The boy was treated for his injuries at the scene by EMS personnel.

Donnie Gene Rhoton was taken in for questioning, and was later arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse.
