KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A South Carolina author and University of Tennessee graduate is using Tennessee football as a backdrop for his new book.

"Rebuilding Year: A Boy, His Father and the 1998 Tennessee Volunteers" shows how good things can happen amid one family's turmoil.

Author John Norwood spoke about the young adult novel Tuesday on Good Morning Tennessee. He says he transferred to UT in August 1998, just after Peyton Manning left for a career in the pros.

Norwood says despite Manning's absence, the Vols just kept winning that year, and he used this idea for the storyline of his book.

"Later on in my life I came up with this story concept about a family going through a divorce, a time when things seem bleak and didn't seem like good things were going to happen, and so the stories kind of match each other.  Good things can happen in the face of adversity," said Norwood.
