ROGERSVILLE (WATE) - A search for a stolen truck in Hawkins County led officers to accidentally discover a party where underage people were consuming alcohol. Three adults were arrested, including the mother of one of the partygoers. Six minors were cited for underage drinking.

Deputies say they were trying to locate a stolen truck early Sunday morning that had been last seen racing into the West Hills subdivision. A deputy was searching Pace Meadows Drive for the truck and pulled into the drive of a residence.

Upon doing so, the deputy saw several people run from the home an into the surrounding woods.

Nine people were found in the woods, two of which were identified as adults: Nicholas Andrew Davis, 18, and Dylan Wayne Sizemore, 21.

The remaining seven were 16 and 17 years old. They were all taken out of the woods.

The deputy then determined he had stumbled onto a party where alcohol was being consumed by the majority of those in attendance, and some were smoking marijuana. Several empty beer cans and liquor bottles were found on the back porch.

The homeowners were out of town at the time.

Five of the juveniles were taken to Hawkins County Memorial Hospital for observation due to their potential toxicity level. Six were cited  for underage drinking.

It was determined the seventh had not taken part in any illegal activity and his mother was asked to pick him up. When the mother, identified as Heather Scott Sawyer, 42, arrived, she was arrested for DUI as she appeared to be intoxicated on what appeared to be prescription medication.

Davis was charged with seven counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and consumption of alcohol under the age of 21. Sizemore was also charged with seven counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Sawyer was charged with driving under the influence and violation of the implied consent law.

All three were booked into the Hawkins County Jail.
