RUTLEDGE (WATE) - A former Grainger County EMT is accused of stealing prescription pain medication from an ambulance.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Joshua Valentine, 33, of Newport, stole prescription pain relievers and later failed drug tests.

Valentine worked as an EMT for the Grainger County Ambulance Authority. The company administered the drug test after discovering narcotic Demerol was missing from an ambulance. He was subsequently fired.

He's charged with misconduct, prescription fraud and theft.

The TBI says he turned himself into the Grainger County Detention Center Tuesday afternoon.  He was released on $2,500 bond.
