KNOXVILLE (WATE) - 6 News viewer Paul recently sent us an email asking about an off-ramp in Knoxville. He asked if there any plans to reduce some of the congestion on the off ramp from Interstate 40 West to Campbell Station Road.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says there is what they term a "ramp queue safety improvement project" for this area already in development. In other words, construction plans are being finalized.

The problem is traffic headed for a number of residential areas as well as for shopping with Turkey Creek and Kingston Pike just a few minutes away.

Basically, the plans ultimately call for the widening of this ramp. This includes clearing, earth work, drainage, pavement removal and replacement, signing, signalization, guard rails, pavement markings and landscaping..

There is no word on a timeframe for this work, but we'll keep you posted.

Fort Sanders utility work to begin

If you live in the Fort Sanders area or are headed to that area, KUB announced that beginning this week in the area along White Avenue, and continuing into August, they will be making improvements to the wastewater collection system.

Crews have already been out prepping this area for the project..

You need to anticipate lane closures along sections of White Avenue between James Agee and 14th daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 3.
