Knoxville (WATE) - Farragut claimed another state baseball title with win at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro on Friday.
The Admirals beat Houston 4-0 behind starting pitcher Patrick Raby who recorded 6 strikeouts and held the Mustangs to just three hits.
Duncan Pence broke a scoreless tie with an RBI double to left in the 3rd inning.
Farragut broke the game open in the 4th when John Painter doubled to left driving in Sam Shulze. Two batters later, Roy Mutta singled up the middle to drive in Cole Morgan to make it 3-0, Farragut.
Chase Fullington's sac-fly scored Painter to make it 4-0.
Raby allowed just one hit the rest of the way giving the Admirals their 8th state title since 2003.
This one carried more weight because the Admirals lost assistant coach Scott Dean in January. The former Farragut and UT player died of a heart attack at the age of 28.
"It's been a long year," said head coach Matt Buckner, holding back tears, after the win.
"We lost our assistant coach, that's why they put the number 5 up there. This one is for Scott Dean. It's really an emotional thing and really a special job by these guys tonight."
Raby was also emotional after the game.
"He's (Scott) all that went through my mind'" said Raby.
"Knowing that we achieved what we wanted. It's the best feeling knowing that we won a state tournament and brought it back to farragut and knowing that he was watching from the best seat in the house."
