Knoxville (WATE) - Parker Cochran delivered the game winning hit as CAK defeated Catholic 6-5 for the Class AA state baseball title in Murfreesboro on Friday.

The championship game was a battle of two west Knox county neighbors. The schools are located less than a mile apart and separated by a narrow slab of blacktop known as Cedar Bluff Road.

"It's huge for our guys," said CAK head coach Tommy Pharr after the game,

"Our guys have worked hard all year, starting in August-- like Catholic and a lot of people-- and (we) just worked hard all year. It's just a testament to how strong we've been and how tough we've been all year."

CAK took a 5-1 lead but the Irish battled back to score 3 runs in the top of the 5th and cut the CAK lead to 5-4.

The Irish tied the game 5-5 in the top of seventh.

CAK was down to it's final out when Josh Johnson doubled to right. Justin Feist was inserted as a pinch runner.

Cochran was the nest batter, and delivered a single to center scoring Feist and giving CAK the title.

"It's been a great journey all season," said Cochran.

"There's nothing better. You can't ask for more than that. It was a great season, the way to end it right there. We did a good job."
