KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Early Saturday, Boy Scouts from East Tennessee placed flags at about 9,000 grave sites at Knoxville National Cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day. The civic service project by the scouts is their way of paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for America.

They met at the Old Gray Cemetery in downtown Knoxville around 9 in the morning and placed flags for about an hour until all had received a flag.

Scout leaders said this is something that each of their scouts look forward to each year
