NORRIS (WATE) - Two TWRA officers were glad to have their life jackets on Friday night when they ended up in the water after being thrown from their boat.

According to TWRA spokesman Matthew Cameron, officers Jerry Short and Harrison Cornett were patrolling Norris Lake around 10:30 Friday night when they struck some unknown debris with their vessel around the Blue Springs Marina area.

The impact ejected both Short and Cornett from the vessel, though both were able to swim back to the boat and page TWRA dispatch for assistance.

Both officers were transported to Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell, treated for their injuries and released.

TWRA Boating and Law Enforcement division obtained the vessel and are investigating into what caused this accident.
