Vols face Sooners in prime time

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Tennessee has never played football in Norman, Oklahoma but when the Vols kickoff there on Sept. 13, the game will air in prime time.

The Vols announced on Thursday that Tennessee's game with Oklahoma will kickoff at 8:00 pm Eastern Time and air on ABC or one of the ESPN networks.

Tennessee has played the Sooners twice, both times at the Orange Bowl in Miami.

The Vols won 17-0 in 1939 with Oklahoma winning 26-24 in 1968.

Oklahoma finished last season ranked No. 6 in the AP and Coahes polls and No. 11 in the BCS standings.

The Sooners did not lose a game at home in 2013. Their last loss in Norman came on Oct. 27, 2012 to Notre Dame 31-13.

The Vols have not beat a ranked opponent on the road since defeating Georgia 51-33 on Oct. 2, 2006.
