KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Hundreds of kids are heading to our nation's capital Friday for the 58th Annual AAA School Safety Patrol Trip.

More than 2,000 students and chaperones boarded dozens of buses, departing from Chilhowee Park and Knoxville Catholic High School at 7 a.m.

AAA Tennessee sponsors and implements the safety patrol programs in the schools. The annual Washington, D.C. trip is a reward for the students.

The kids will return Monday at 7 p.m.
