KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police identified Monday the two people killed in a crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 40 at Asheville Highway.

Russell Greer, 44, and Rose Briotte, 65, were killed when their car was rear ended by a tractor trailer in a traffic stoppage on the ramp to Asheville Highway from I-40E around 4 p.m. Friday. The impact caused Greer and Briotte's vehicle to become sandwiched between the tractor trailer and a Ford Expedition.

No charges have been filed against the tractor trailer driver, identified as Norman Jones from Boaz, Ala. He was taken to UT Medical Center with emotional distress.
