Girl rescued from cliff in North Knoxville

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville girl is safe and back home Friday night after being rescued from a cliff by Knoxville police officers.
KPD says it started when a man came to the Safety Education Center door, telling officers that a girl was yelling for help.

Officers found her nearby along Mineral Springs Avenue.

She had apparently climbed 30 feet down the side of a steep bank and was hanging on to a tree branch.

Officers worked their way down, one of them taking hold of the girl's hand and pulling her back up.

An EMT checked her out to make she she was okay.

The girl said she'd gotten lost.
