Knoxville (WATE) - Former Vol basketball player Jarnell Stokes feels confident about being a first round pick in the NBA draft, and he'd like it to be his hometown team, the Memphis Grizzlies.
"They told me I have all the pieces," Stokes said after a Monday workout with the Grizzlies.
"They told me they are definitely considering me in (the first round). I am working out with all the teams in the early to late twenties. I think I fit what they are trying to do. I look at guys like (Grizzlies forward) Zach Randolph, I love what he does. I love the mentality. Ya know, I am not soft.
Stokes announced in April that he was leaving Tennessee after three seasons.
He averaged double figures in scores (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (10.6 rpg) in 2012-13.
Stokes wouldn't mind playing for any NBA team, but when it comes to choosing-- he'd love to stay in Memphis.
"There is no place like home. I love Memphis. I think it's a very good place," he said.
"I love watching the Grizzlies. They are my favorite team. I grew up watching them. I was a season ticket holder in the nose-bleed (section) just three years ago, so, it's surreal right now being able to work out for them.
