Tennessee Smokies expected to remain with Cubs

Knoxville (WATE) - The Tennessee Smokies' eight year working agreement with the Chicago Cubs is expected to continue for at least two more years.

The Smokies will make an official announcement on their plans on Wednesday afternoon at Smokies Park.

Tennessee has been working as the Cubs' Southern League AA affiliate since 2007. 

Prior to that, the Smokies were a minor league affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2005-2006 and the St. Louis Cardinals from 2003-2004.

The Smokies were the AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays from 1980-2002.
