CLINTON (WATE) - The fifth suspect wanted in a gang-related attempted murder in Anderson County was arrested Wednesday in Louisiana.

Officials say Crystal McGuire, 37, was arrested after a traffic stop in Louisiana.

Several people are facing charges for a gang-related attempted murder.

Investigators obtained indictments from the Anderson County grand jury on five individuals after a lengthy investigation into the severe beating of a 31-year-old Briceville man which resulted in serious injuries.

According to prosecutors in Anderson County there is a substantial number of Aryan Nations gang members in East Tennessee. 6 News was told by prosecutors the gang has been here for more than ten years.

Leonard Kilgore, 36, Jacob Campbell, 33, Michael O' Conner, 32, and David Dozard, 32, are all already in custody. Three were arrested Tuesday and one was already in prison for unrelated charges.

The assistant district attorney says the gang is no longer driven by race, but that members now focus on organized crime to make money.

Some Anderson County residents were shocked to learn the gang was allegedly in their community. Landon Mann has lived in Anderson County for more than 18 years. He's heard of the Aryan Nations gang, but never thought the members could be found in his community.

“That's a little bit scary just to know it could be in your backyard,” said Mann.

The suspects are all alleged members of the Aryan Nations gang according to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. According to Anderson County Assistant District Attorney Ryan Spitzer, the victim was also a gang member.

“The attack was believed to be a part of the business of the organization essentially a punishment of one of their own members,” said Spitzer.

Alleged gang members Jacob Campbell and Michael O’Conner live in Sevierville. Leonard Kilgore lives on Lilac Avenue in Knoxville. 6 News went by his last known address according to court records 6 News was told to leave and that those at the home had no comment.

The home where the attempted murder allegedly occurred is where Crystal Lynnette McGuire was living. Spitzer says she is a secretary for the gang. She was arrested at 5:00 Wednesday night in Louisiana. 6 News spoke to several of McGuires neighbors in Powell. They were scared to talk on camera for fear of retaliation.

According to prosecutors in Anderson County the gang now uses the white power symbolism to recruit members but often the crimes committed are geared toward making money.

“Bringing contraband into the penal system what's worth X number of dollars on the streets maybe worth three-times as much inside the penal system because it's hard to get so that can be a tremendous source of revenue for instance for the Aryan Nation,” said Spitzer.

The five alleged members have been charged with attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy.
