NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Metro police lieutenant has been arrested for rape.

Lt. Curtis Watkins, 36, was booked Friday afternoon on three felony counts of rape without consent. His bond was set at $300,000.

Watkins is accused of having non-consensual sex with a woman whom he had a continuing six-year romantic relationship with. One encounter occurred in 2012 and two in 2013.

Watkins was decommissioned and assigned to administrative desk duties on January 27, one day after the woman, 40, contacted police about him.

Detectives presented their findings to the district attorney and Watkins was indicted on the three rape counts this week. He will be arraigned on the charges in the future.

Watkins is a 15-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2008 and lieutenant in 2013.

He has no prior disciplinary infractions.
