Jefferson County father charged with murder after son dies of gunshot wound to head

JEFFERSON CITY (WATE) - A Jefferson County man is now charged with first degree murder after his son died of gunshot wounds early Monday morning.

Edward Bullard Sr., 69, was arrested Monday afternoon on first degree murder charges. He had been released from jail on bond on Sunday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said it was called to 375 East Dumplin Valley Road Saturday for a man who had called and said she shot his son. When deputies arrived, they found Edward Bullard Jr., 45, shot in the head.

The younger Bullard was taken to UT Medical Center by Lifestar helicopter. He died around 1 a.m. Monday morning.

Edward Bullard Sr. is being held on $1 million bond.

Deputies say the investigation is continuing.
