RUTLEDGE (WATE) - One of the Grainger County jailers arrested on charges of official misconduct was sentenced to two years in jail Monday.

Jessie E. Cummings, 24, had pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual conduct with an inmate and two counts of officer misconduct.

He must serve at least seven months of his sentence.

Cummings is one of five former workers arrested in January for a number of crimes, including allowing inmates to leave the jail to pick up contraband.

Two others, Tyler Farrow and Jacob Layel, the son of current sheriff Scott Layel, had their trials moved to October.
