Ribbon-cutting for new ranger station in Rugby

ONEIDA (AP) - The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is holding a ribbon-cutting for a new ranger station in Historic Rugby.

The Saturday event takes place at noon and will feature live music, refreshments and a ranger-led hike to the Clear Fork River.

According to the park, the new station will be open each Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of September. Rangers will provide visitors with information on both the Big South Fork and the Obed Wild and Scenic River. Visitors also can join rangers for hikes each Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.

And the station will have back country hiking permits, hog permits, senior passes for National Parks and other public lands and free passes for active military.
