KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Parents of a young man killed in a standoff with the Knox County Sheriff's Office have filed a wrongful death lawsuit claiming deputies gave him alcohol during the negotiations.

Jordan Camp, 21, was fatally shot by officers during the standoff in June 2013.

A lawsuit filed this week by Camp's parents claims that the sheriff's office knew or should have known that Camp had mental health issues.

By giving Camp alcohol during the negotiations, Camp's parents claim the sheriff's office showed reckless disregard for his life.

One deputy was shot in the leg during the conclusion of the standoff, but it was later determined that he was hit by a ricochet round.
