KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville Utilities Board approved Thursday three years of rate increases for all utility services.

The increases were approved on a second and final reading by the KUB Board of Commissioners.

The first of the electric and water increases will be reflected on residential customers' monthly bills in August 2014, with an additional $1 for electric service and an additional $2 for water service.

Natural gas and wastewater increases will begin in November 2014, with an additional $1 for natural gas service and an additional $3 for wastewater service.

The board also approved a budget of $868 million for fiscal year 2015, an increase of only 1.8 percent from 2014. KUB says the budget will keep the Century II and PACE 10 infrastructure replacement programs on track and includes $168.2 million in capital investment for new substations and a new major natural gas main project.
