Friday, June 20 is Jim's last day with us here at WATE, but Thursday we all got together for a big surprise send off.

For once, Jim Wogan was speechless.

A whole host of familiar faces in the community joined us here at Greystone studios to wish Jim well on his next grand adventure, including Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, who proclaimed Thursday to be "Jim Wogan Day" in Knox County.

There were also well wishes from legendary sports figures including Peyton Manning, Bruce Pearl and Bob Kesling.

Everyone enjoyed sharing Wogan stories over lunch from his favorite El Chico's and taking a look back at the incredible career of one of the most knowledgeable sports guys around.

Wogan was here for the highs and lows at UT.

He was on the road and here at home, covering all kinds of sporting events. and putting in long hours, yet never losing his spark.

It wasn't a day to give out a gold watch. Wogan, a diehard Red Sox fan, got something even better: a baseball bat signed by Wade Boggs.
