It has come to this, my last official communication as sports director at WATE-TV.
It has been a privilege to bring you stories and highlights each night for the past 25 years.
They weren't just random events. In many cases they were the stories and highlights of your life-- your teams, your players, your sons, your daughters, your neighbors, your friends, your families, your celebrations and your heartaches.
It has been an honor to be a part of that process.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a very small part of your very busy lives. It has been my pleasure and I have never taken it for granted.
East Tennessee is a very special place. My wife and I have grown close to its heritage, its uniqueness and its beauty. We have been invited into homes and made many close friends along the way. I have always said-- I wasn't born in East Tennessee but I sure have a lot of this place running through my blood. I am proud of that.
I have been blessed and in some small way it's time to reciprocate.
On July 7, I begin my position with the Diocese of Knoxville.
Mary and I are excited to begin this new chapter in our lives and I look forward to serving you in a different way.
My deepest and sincerest thanks to all who have watched over the years.
