NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An Antioch father was arrested after Metro police said he left his toddler unattended in a car while he shopped.

Authorities were called to K&S Market on 4225 Nolensville Pike Saturday afternoon after someone reported seeing a two-year-old sitting in a car crying and sweating with the windows rolled up.

Officials believe she had been in the car for about 20 minutes.

When medics reached the scene, they broke out a window and removed the little girl from the car.

She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was treated for an elevated temperature and heartbeat.

Police said the child’s father, 35-year-old Nara Kattel, came out of the store at 12:37 p.m. carrying several items he had purchased.

He reportedly told officers that he forgot his daughter was in the car.

Kattel was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. He is being held in lieu of $60,000 bond.
