KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville area fishing enthusiasts will have the chance to win as much as $2,000 this weekend, June 27 and 28, at the sixth annual Gary Lindsey Memorial Fishing Tournament at the Fort Loudoun-Tellico Canal Ramp.

The overnight bass tournament is held in memory of local fisherman Gary Lindsey who died in 2009.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Friday night and wraps up with the weigh-in at 7 a.m. Saturday.

First prize for the bass tournament is $2,000 with second place playing $1,000 and a third place payoff of $750.

There is a $600 prize for the largest catfish.

The entry fee is $50 per boat plus an optional $10 lunker fee.

Proceeds go to the American Red Cross and, new to this year's event, Smoky Mountain Service Dogs.
