Suspect robs North Knox County tobacco store at gunpoint

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Officials are searching for a suspect accused of robbing a North Knox County tobacco store at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says a man walked into Discount Tobacco, 5904 Tazewell Pike, around 12:30 p.m. He had a hoodie over his head, a white bandana around his face and was carrying a pistol. He then demanded money.

The store owner and his wife were the only ones inside. They gave him an unknown amount of money from the cash register.

The suspect then made the couple lie on the floor as he fled.

The victims say they heard a vehicle leaving, but had no other details. No one was injured.

The suspect is a white man between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing around 280 pounds. He was wearing a green hoodie, camo shorts and black tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call KCSO at (865) 215-2243.
